Phoenix just had its hottest year on record
Phoenix recorded 70 days at or above 110°F in 2024, a new all-time record, exceeding the previous record of 55 days set in 2023, according to the National Weather Service. The year was the hottest in city history. Average daily temperature: 78.6°F. What 110°F+ days actually do to your interior
Heat damage in Phoenix is cumulative. Here’s the timeline most cars follow if they’re parked outside.
Month 1: Dashboard plastics start outgassing — that ‘new car’ smell is actually plasticizers leaching out. UV starts breaking down the top layer of leather and vinyl. Steering wheel sticky in direct sun.
Month 6: Carpet color visibly fading at the door sills. Leather seats start showing micro-cracks at stress points (driver’s bolster, edges). Headliner adhesive softens; corners may sag slightly.
Year 1: Dashboard surface fades from rich black to dusty gray. Plastic trim around the gauge cluster develops a chalky finish. Skin oils from your hands and arms have baked into the steering wheel and shifter.
Year 3: Without intervention: cracked dash, faded leather, gray plastic trim, an AC system pumping mildew because nobody ever treated the vents. The interior is essentially 6-8 years old in usable life.
What to address — and when
The earlier you intervene, the more you can save. A car at month six is still recoverable on every front. A car at year three needs a more aggressive approach, and some damage by that point is permanent.

Our coverage stops at the central and south Phoenix corridors — we do not currently serve Maryvale or the rest of west Phoenix.
If you live in an apartment downtown with an underground garage, we can usually still work — we coordinate with the property in advance and bring our own setup. If you live in a single-family home in Arcadia or South Mountain, driveway work is no issue.
We also cross into Tempe and North Scottsdale weekly, so we can coordinate visits if you have a car at one address and a vehicle at another.
